In the Waldviertel, there is hardly a more traditional mode of transportation than the Waldviertler Schmalspurbahn.

For over 115 years, steam and diesel locomotives have been chugging along at a leisurely pace through the idyllic Waldviertel region on the routes between Gmünd and Groß Gerungs, as well as between Gmünd and Litschau. Today, just as in the past, the experience of a train ride is truly unique.
